How to Configure Static IP Address in Vista

In most cases, when it comes to configuring TCP/IP it is done automatically using DHCP.  In some cases it makes sense to configure the TCP/IP setting with static IP address.  This is how you can configure your TCP/IP setting with static addresses.

1. Click on Start

2. Type: “Network and Sharing” in the Start Search field and press enter.

3. Click on Manage network connections (from menu on left side of window)

4. Double-Click on the Connection you want to change, Local Area Connect or Wireless Connection.

5. Click on the Properties Button

6. Choose to Allow the operation

7. Double click the Internet Protocol Verison 4 (TCP/IPv4)

8. Choose Use the following IP address:

9. Enter the DNS IP address(s).

10. Click OK.
