Error in registry for extension “Exchange Extensions;?” error message when you start Outlook 2003

Problem:

You recieve this error when opening Outlook 2003:

when you start Outlook 2003

Solution:

1. This was corrected with Microsoft Office 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1). So update your Office to the latest Service Pack. (Recommended)

OR

2. Registry Edit Workaround

Warning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

  1. Quit Outlook 2003.
  2. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
  3. Expand the registry, and then click to select the following subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Extensions
  4. Right-click Exchange Extensions, and then click Delete.
  5. Click Yes to confirm the deletion of the Exchange Extensions string value.
  6. On the File menu, click Exit to quit Registry Editor.
